How to use:
Meaning 1: when, for, in order to
Usage 1: Verb (dictionary form) + 上で
Meaning 2: after, upon
Usage 2: Verb (た form) + 上で
Meaning 3: after, when
Usage 3: Noun + 上で
Example sentences:
1. アパートは部屋の中をみた上で買うかどうかを決めたい。
apaato wa heya no naka o mita ue de kau kadouka o kimetai.
I want to decide whether to buy this apartment or not after I’ve seen the rooms.
2. 仕事をする上で大切なのは、周りとのコミュニケーションです。
shigoto o suru ue de taisetsu na no wa, mawari to no komyunikeeshon desu.
In order to do one’s job, what’s important is communication with those around you.
3. この薬は説明書をよく読んだ上で、ご使用ください。
kono kusuri wa setsumeisho o yoku yonda ue de, go shiyou kudasai.
Please use this medicine after reading the instructions carefully.
4. 実物を見た上で買うかどうか決めるつもりだ。
jitsubutsu o mita uede kauka douka kimeru tsumorida.
Once I see the real thing in person, I will decide whether to buy or not.
