How to use:
Verb-casual, past + あげく(に)
Noun + のあげく(に)
Example sentences:
1. さんざん悩んだあげく、彼には手紙で謝ることにした。
sanzan nayanda ageku, kare ni wa tegami de ayamaru koto ni shita.
After thinking about it for a long time, I finally decided to send a letter to apologize to him
2. 考えに考えたあげく、この家を売ることに決めた
kangae ni kangaeta ageku, kono-ka o uru koto ni kimeta
After much thought, I finally decided to sell this house
3. 弟は6年も大学に行って遊びほうけたあげくに、就職したくないと言い出した。
otōto wa 6-nen mo daigaku ni itte asobi hōketa ageku ni, shūshoku shitakunai to iidashita.
My younger brother went to college for six years and played around, and then My younger said didn’t want to get a job.
4. 彼らは夫婦げんかを繰り返したあげくに、とうとう離婚した。
karera wa fuufu genka o kurikaeshita ageku ni, toutou rikon shita.
After fighting for numerous times, they finally got a divorce.
5. どの大学に入ろうかと、さんざん悩んだあげく、京都大学に決めた。
dono daigaku ni hairou ka to, sanzan nayanda ageku, kyouto daigaku ni kimeta.
