Meaning: in the same way as; in the way; as ~
How to use:
Verb (dictionary form) + とおりに
Verb (casual past) + とおりに
Noun + どおりに/ のとおりに
Example sentences:
1. 昨日勧めたとおりにやってみましたか？
kinou susumeta toori ni yatte mimashita ka.
Did you do what I suggested yesterday?
2. 何もかも、私の願ったとおりになりました。
nanimo kamo, watashi no negatta toori ni narimashita.
Everything turned out as I had hoped.
3. じゃあ、先生が書くとおりに、一緒に漢字を書いてください。
jaa, sensei ga kaku toori ni, isshoni kanji o kaite kudasai.
Let’s get started, please write the kanji character together as the teacher draws it.
4. 医者の言うとおりにすると約束した。
isha no iu toori ni suru to yakusoku shita.
I had agreed to follow the doctor’s orders.
