How to use:
N/Aい/ na/ V(普) + みたいだ / みたいに
N/Aい/ na /V(普) + みたいな + N
Explain:
Describe actions and events according to the speaker’s guess.
みたい treated as an adjective な
Example sentences:
1. 私が合格するなんてうそみたい。
Watashi ga goukaku suru nante uso mitai.
The fact that I passed the exam is like a lie
2. その地方の方言に慣れるまでは、まるで外国語を聞いているみたいだった。
Sono chihou no hōgen ni nareru made wa, marude gaikoku-go o kiite iru mitaidatta.
Until I got used to the local dialect, I felt like I was listening to a foreign language.
3. 誰も彼女の本名を知らないみたいだ。
Dare mo kanojo no honmyō o shiranai mitaida.
No one seems to know her real name.
4. どうもかぜをひいたみたいだ。
Doumo kaze o hiita mitaida.
Looks like I’ve caught a cold
5. 何か焦げているみたいだ。へんなにおいがする。
Nani ka kogete iru mitaida.Hen na nioi ga suru.
Looks like something is burnt. Has a very strange smell.
