Explain:
The particle 「や」 is used when we want to list nouns. The particle 「や」 is used to list some typical objects (two or more nouns) only. We can use the particle 「など」 at the end of a noun to clearly indicate that there are objects other than the stated ones.
Example sentences:
1. 机の上に本やペンなどがあります。
Tsukue no ue ni hon ya pen nado ga arimasu.
There are books and pens on the desk.
2. 袋の中にお金や写真などがあります。
Fukuro no naka ni okane ya shashin nado ga arimasu.
There are money and photos in the bag.
3. わたしは日本の文化や自然の景色などが好きです。
Watashi wa nihon’nobunka ya shizen no keshiki nado ga sukidesu.
I like culture, natural scenery etc. of Japan.
4. 部屋の中にテレビや冷蔵庫などがあります。
Heya no naka ni terebi ya reizouko nado ga arimasu.
There is a TV and a refrigerator in the room.
