Meaning: seem; look like

How to use:
Verb-ますstem + そうな + Noun
Verb-ますstem + そうに + Verb
なadjective + そうな + Noun
なadjective + そうに + Verb
いadjective (remove い) + そうな + Noun

Explain:
Used in the case of expressing the speaker’s judgment and assessment based on what is seen or felt.
Used in case of repeating what has been heard.

Example sentences:

1. 浅見さんはおいしそうに食べています。
Asami-san wa oishii souni tabete imasu.
Chị Asami đang ăn trông rất ngon lành.

2. 幸せそうなカップルですね。
Shiawase souna kappurudesu ne.
Một cặp đôi trông hạnh phúc nhỉ.

3. 今にも雨が降りだしそうな天気だった。
ima ni mo ame ga furidashisou na tenki datta.
It looked like it might rain at any minute.

4. 高木は愉快そうに笑ったが、どこか落ち着かないふうだった。
takagi wa yukai sou ni waratta ga, dokoka ochitsukanai fuu datta.
Takagi chuckled but seemed distracted.

5. どうしたんだい?君はなんだか心配そうな様子をしているが…
dou shitan dai. kimi wa nan da ka shinpai sou na yousu o shite iru ga.
What is the matter? You seem more than commonly thoughtful.
