How to use: Verb-casual, past + ところ
Example sentences:
1. 教室に行ってみたところが、学生は一人も来ていなかった。
kyōshitsu ni itte mita tokoro ga, gakusei wa hitori mo kite inakatta.
When I went to the classroom, not a single student was there.
2. 先生にお願いしたところ、早速承諾の返事をいただいた。
sensei ni onegai shita tokoro, sassoku shōdaku no henji o itadaita.
When I asked the teacher, I received a reply of approval immediately.
3. 食事をしたところ、お腹が痛いしました。
shokuji o shita tokoro, onakagaitai shimashita.
I have a stomach ache after eating
4. どのみち、もうあの男には退屈していたところだしな。
dono michi, mou ano otoko ni wa taikutsu shite ita tokoro da shi na.
I was growing bored with that man, anyway.
